Program / Role Overview

The United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) is seeking a qualified Transport Officer at the Field Service (FS-6) level to oversee fleet maintenance operations in Juba. Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Transport Officer, the incumbent will manage automotive repairs, diagnostic testing, quality control, and technical fault analysis. This role is vital for maintaining vehicle safety and operational transport capability in a non-family field duty station. Primary operational responsibilities encompass supervising the maintenance of UN-owned vehicles according to manufacturer standards, updating management software such as EVMS and Fleetlog, and executing mission-wide vehicle acquisition and recovery plans. Additionally, the officer will oversee vendor contracts, assess technical procurement bids, and ensure strict compliance with UN workplace safety and environmental protection policies while directly evaluating workshop personnel. This selection is restricted to pre-approved roster applicants who have passed previous UN Central Review Body assessments. Candidates must possess significant fleet management experience within international or peacekeeping contexts and hold a valid national driving license. Per UN regulations, citizens of South Sudan are ineligible for this Field Service appointment.
