The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (UN RCO) in Male, Maldives is seeking a qualified National Professional Officer for the position of Economist (NOC). Operating within the UN Development System reform framework, the economist will support the UN Resident Coordinator and United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in advancing national development priorities, the 2030 Agenda, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The role integrates UN 2.0 capabilities, drawing heavily on data analysis, digital transformation, strategic foresight, and behavioral science to drive economic transformation and green transitions. The successful candidate will lead macroeconomic and socioeconomic research to identify structural challenges, policy entry points, and innovative SDG financing mechanisms. Key responsibilities include supporting Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFFs), fostering partnerships with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), government ministries, and the private sector, and integrating economic analysis into the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
