Consultancy - Connectivity Credits Backend Software Engineering Consultant

UNICEF's Digital Impact Division is seeking a remote Backend Software Engineering Consultant to support the Connectivity Credits initiative under Giga. This initiative aims to incentivize internet service providers to deliver high-quality connectivity to underserved schools worldwide by linking verifiable performance metrics to digital rewards. The platform integrates real-time measurement, rule-based decision mechanisms, workflow orchestration, and digital value transfers. As part of the technical team, the consultant will be responsible for scaling existing prototypes into a production-ready, multi-country platform. Key duties include greenfield backend implementation, event-driven workflow development, API integrations, and robust deployment pipelines. The role requires independent technical problem-solving, architectural decision-making, and translating design specifications into maintainable software. This position offers a 6-month remote contract administered through UNICEF's Geneva office, presenting an opportunity for experienced software engineers to directly contribute to digital inclusion and global educational infrastructure.
